New Delhi : Gaushala was set up in DU’s Hansraj College, the principal said – students will get pure milk and ghee

A Cow Promotion Center or say a Gaushala has been set up at Hansraj College, one of the most eminent institutions of the University of Delhi, where research on various aspects related to cows will take place.

The principal of the college says that this will also provide pure milk and ghee to the students and they will also be used in the Yagyas held every month in the college campus.

According to a report in the Indian Express, ‘Swami Dayanand Saraswati Go-Samvardhan and Anusandhan Kendra’ has been established in Hansraj College, number 14 in the government’s college ranking, currently this center has started with a cow.

According to the principal of the college, Dr. Rama, if useful and beneficial findings of research come out, then it will be expanded.

According to the principal, this center will not only conduct research on various aspects of the cow, but will also provide pure milk and ghee for the students and for the monthly havans held on the college campus.

He said, ‘Our college is DAV Trust College, whose base is Arya Samaj. According to the same tradition, we perform Havan on the first day of every month, which can be attended by all teaching and non-teaching staff and students.

He further said, ‘During that havan, we greet all those people who have a birthday in that month. For this, we have to buy the necessary things, such as pure ghee, from the market to offer it to the fire every month. Now we can become self-reliant in this matter.

The principal also says that the college is also working on a dung gas plant. He says that there is also an idea that when the hostels open, we can provide pure milk and curd to the students.

However, Delhi University officials are not aware whether such initiatives have taken place in other Delhi University colleges as well. Vikas Gupta, the registrar of the university, says, ‘I was not even aware of this initiative. This will be an initiative taken at the college level.

However, the situation of debate has also arisen over the decision.

The Hansraj College unit of the CPI(M)’s Students Federation of India (SFI) has alleged that the center is open on the land earmarked for the women’s hostel.

The SFI has issued a statement saying, “There is only one male hostel in the college and the construction of the women’s hostel has been stalled for many years on the same land on which the Gaushala is being constructed.” We condemn and oppose the construction of this Gaushala.

He has said that it is very shameful that our college administration is giving priority to the protection and promotion of cow over the struggling girl students.

However, Principal Dr. Rama has denied the allegations of SFI.

He said, ‘The place for the hostel is very small, which can accommodate about 100 students. It was not reserved for the hostel. We are completing several formalities for the construction of the hostel and re-working the masterplan of the college, which will require the permission of the Municipal Corporation.
