Uttarakhand : The dream of ticket of common workers did not come true – political family dominated in every party on the right of ticket

Families have always been a big issue in electoral politics. But despite this issue, familyism dominates politics. Be it the ruling BJP or Congress in the state, both the parties have not been able to come out from the shadow of familyism. To take advantage, political parties also adopted familyism whenever they wanted and whenever they wanted, they also did politics on this issue. On the basis of this politics of heritage, the wish of ticket of the successors who are doing politics has been fulfilled. The tickets of both BJP and Congress could not remain untouched by the shadow of familyism. Both the parties gave priority to familyism in the selection of candidates. Due to this both the parties are facing opposition.

The Congress party has always been a target of BJP for familyism. Especially when it comes to the post of national president, the BJP has always been attacking the Congress by keeping the Gandhi family at the center. It is a different matter that there have been many such leaders in BJP who themselves promoted familyism. On the other hand, the parties also benefit from the children of the leaders entering the political arena. These leaders of the new generation grow up in a political environment since childhood. In such a situation, he learns all the things ahead of time. On the other hand he inherits a large crowd of supporters.

Familism in BJP

BJP, which has been a strong opponent of familyism, fielded Savita Kapoor for the Cantt assembly seat. Savita Kapoor is the wife of late Harbans Kapoor, who was MLA from Cantt Viss seat. The party played a sympathy card by fielding Savita Kapoor as its candidate, but other ticket contenders are seeing it as an exercise to support familyism. BJP cut the ticket of Kunwar Pranav Champion and made his wife Kunvarani Devyani as the candidate for Khanpur assembly seat. In Champion’s seat, of course, there is no opposition to familism, but his case has become a major ground for opposition to familism. The party has fielded Trilok Singh Cheema, son of MLA Harbhajan Singh Cheema in Kashipur. Local claimants are also opposing this decision of the party and are raising the demand to change the ticket. At the same time, Ritu Khanduri, daughter of former Uttarakhand CM Bhuvan Chand Khanduri, has been given ticket from Kotdwar.
