Parliament’s budget session will begin with the President’s address today

The budget session of Parliament is going to start from today i.e. 31st January. According to tradition, being the first session of the year, the budget session will begin with the speech of President Ram Nath Kovind. The President will address the joint session of both the houses in the Central Hall. The President’s address usually gives details of the achievements and future plans of the government. After the President’s address on the first day of the session, Economic Survey-2021-22 will be presented in both the houses, in which a detailed description of the economic condition of the country will be presented along with indicating the future direction of economic-social policies and programs.
Today’s schedule in Parliament House
- PM Modi will hold a press conference at 10 am
- President will reach Parliament at 10.55 am
- President’s address to be held at 11 am
- The proceedings of the Lok Sabha will begin half an hour after the end of the President’s speech.
- Economic survey to be presented in Lok Sabha first
- Lok Sabha will be adjourned for today after the presentation of the Economic Survey
- Rajya Sabha proceedings will begin at 2.30 pm
- Economic survey will also be presented in Rajya Sabha
- Then Rajya Sabha will also be adjourned
- Chief Economic Advisor will appear before the media at 3.45 pm

The Economic Survey gives an account of the performance of the country in the last one year. The GDP of the country is also estimated in the Economic Survey. The development during the last one year is also reviewed. The Economic Survey also gives suggestions for the future. Before the budget, the Economic Survey is presented in both the houses of the Parliament. The Economic Survey is prepared under the supervision of the Chief Economic Adviser.
General budget will be presented tomorrow
On the first day, the proceedings of Rajya Sabha will start at 2.30 pm. On the second day, on Tuesday, February 1, at 11 am, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the year 2022-23 in the Lok Sabha. On that day the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha will begin one hour after the budget speech and a copy of the budget will be laid on the Table of the House.
In view of the corona virus epidemic, the chambers and galleries of both the houses will be used for sitting members during the sitting of the lower house. A total of 29 sittings will be held during the budget session, in which there will be 10 sittings in the first phase and 19 in the second phase. The budget session is being organized at a time when assembly elections are going to be held in five states- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur.
Budget session likely to be uproar
The main opposition Congress has decided to surround the government in the budget session on relief package for Corona affected families, inflation, unemployment, issues related to farmers, standoff with China on the border and some other issues. The party says that the government will be asked to answer on issues related to China’s increasing aggression on the border and its ongoing standoff, inflation, unemployment, state of the economy, privatization of Air India and other government companies and farmers.
