Justin Langer resigns as coach of Australia cricket team, Andrew McDonald appointed interim coach

Australia men’s cricket team head coach Justin Langer has resigned from his position. Langer stepped down with immediate effect. Under his guidance, Australia recently thrashed England 4-0 in the five-Test Ashes series. Apart from this, Australia won the T20 World Cup title last year when Langer was the coach. He was the head coach of the Australian cricket team for four years. Cricket Australia appointed Andrew McDonald as interim coach following Langer’s resignation. McDonald was previously the assistant coach.
Langer took this decision after a meeting with the Cricket Australia Board on Friday. After a day-long meeting in Melbourne, CEO Nick Hockley said there was no solution except to continue “secret discussions” with Koch. However, only 18 hours later, Langer’s resignation was confirmed.
DSEG, the management company of 51-year-old Langer, confirmed the resignation on Saturday morning. The company said in a statement that DSEG confirms that our client Justin Langer has resigned as coach of the Australian men’s cricket team this morning. This resignation has been given after a meeting with Cricket Australia last evening. The coach has resigned with immediate effect.
