Uttarakhand: The amount of tab was to be known in the accounts of the students, the officers digested it by asking for money in their own accounts

Irregularities have come to the fore in the scheme of giving free tablets to the students of the state. Students of class 10th and 12th of Uttarakhand Board were to be given money in their accounts for tablets. But some districts gave its amount in the accounts of the Block Education Officer and some in the accounts of the Principal. At the same time, despite the implementation of the model code of conduct in the state, a report is being sought from the Directorate level on how many tablets were purchased every day. Education Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said that the matter would be investigated. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had started the free tablet scheme for the students of Uttarakhand Board from GGIC Rajpur Road on January 1 on New Year’s Day.

On this day, programs were organized in the same number of schools in 70 assembly constituencies across the state and tablets were given to the students symbolically. The program was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at GGIC Rajpur Road. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 12,000 will be given directly to the accounts of students of Uttarakhand Board and government colleges through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

2.65 lakh students are to be benefited under the scheme, but instead of direct students, this amount has been given to the principals in Uttarkashi, block education officers in Rudraprayag district. Apart from this, the condition of some other districts is also the same.

In which district how many tablets to buy

Instead of giving the money for the tablet directly to the accounts of the students, an inquiry will be conducted into the BEO and the Principal.

There are instructions that the amount of tablet will be given directly in the accounts of the students through the Chief Education Officer. But some districts do not have officers. Apart from this, some technical problems are also being faced. Because of this it is getting delayed.
