It has been announced who will be the Chief Minister face of Congress in the Punjab Assembly Elections 2022. Congress has declared the current Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi as the chief ministerial face for Punjab. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi announced Channi’s name during a program organized in Ludhiana.
During this, Rahul Gandhi gave the slogan of ‘Sada Channi, Sad CM’ in Punjab Congress and started the election campaign. Rahul Gandhi said, ‘A few days ago I said in Parliament that two Indias are being made in the country – one for the rich and the other for the poor. Now the people of Punjab have also said that they want a CM who comes from a humble background. I agree with this point, this thinking is yours.
Rahul Gandhi said, ‘The people of Punjab said, we want a chief minister of the poor household. We need that person, who understands the poor, who understands the hunger, the panic in the heart of poor people, he should understand that, because Punjab needs that person. That is why the party has shown trust in Charanjit Singh Channi.
After Charanjit Singh Channi was made the face of CM, Rahul Gandhi also launched a theme song.
Channi is the CM of common man
On making Charanjit Singh Channi the face of CM, Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera said in a special conversation with India Today, ‘Charanjit Singh Channi is the CM of the common man. He is completely different from those leaders who did not go beyond their royal palace. He said, “Charanjit Singh Channi is available 24*7 for the common people.
CM Channi will do digital interaction with people
AICC’s social media in-charge Gaurav Pandhi said, ‘Our focus will be to throw light on the work done by the Channi government in 111 days. The promises made by Punjab Congress, including Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Punjab model. Will start a new social media campaign in the next 10 days. Congress leaders said the party’s entire election campaign in Punjab would focus on the work done by the Channi government and promises made by Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu in his ‘Punjab model’.
Channi is the Dalit face of Congress
By making Channi the face of CM, Congress wants to bring Dalit vote bank in its favour. In fact, Dalits constitute about 32 percent of the population in Punjab. Charanjit Singh Channi comes from Ramdasiya Sikh community. Charanjit Singh Channi, who has been an MLA since 2007, is considered to have a good reach on the Sikh community along with Hindu Dalits. It is believed that by making Charanjit Singh Channi the face of the CM, the party is trying to align the Dalit as well as Hindu Dalit and other caste equations.
