Uttar Pradesh : Sanyukt Kisan Morcha launched ‘No Vote to BJP’ campaign

Samyukta Kisan Morcha, the Sarvadhikar Samiti of farmers, has started door-to-door campaign against BJP in Meerut and Greater Noida in western Uttar Pradesh. In this campaign that started on Sunday, Morcha members are going from door to door appealing people to vote against BJP. Thousands of SKM workers have come out in the fray in both the cities and are convincing people not to vote for BJP. The workers are distributing pamphlets to the people in which the reasons for voting for BJP are given. In both the cities, voting is to be held on February 10 in the first phase of the assembly elections. Voting will be held in 58 assembly seats in 11 districts of western Uttar Pradesh in the first phase.

Just a few days back, the United Kisan Morcha had announced by holding a press conference in Delhi that the front would hold press conferences in 9 cities of Uttar Pradesh and would appeal to the people to vote against the BJP. Hannan Mulla of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), a member of United Kisan Morcha, told National Herald that door-to-door campaigning has a huge impact. Keep in mind that Kisan Morcha wanted to organize Kisan Panchayats but it did not happen due to Kovid rules. However, it is believed that the government had implemented these rules to stop the farmers. Significantly, the Election Commission recently lifted the ban on large election gatherings and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was about to hold a rally in Bijnor on Monday. But BJP says that this rally has been canceled due to bad weather. Hannah Mulla said, “Our aim is to defeat the anti-farmer BJP. We will take the same message to the neighboring states as well.”

The Morcha has said that a similar conference will be organized in Bareilly in the coming days. Earlier, the United Kisan Morcha has issued a letter to the farming community, accusing the central government of blasphemy. The letter reads, “My dear farmers too, I have never met you. But at the moment my reputation is in your hands. You must have heard about the farmers’ agitation which lasted for more than a year in which 700 of our farmer brothers have lost their lives, you must have heard how the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra crushed the farmers with his car in Kheri. Four of our farmer brothers lost their lives in this incident, but instead of arresting the accused, the BJP government defended them.”

Morcha leaders said, “The BJP government fired tear gas shells at the farmers and fired water cannons at them. False cases were filed against the farmers, they were called terrorists and anti-national. This party listens to only one language, vote, seat and governance…Let’s punish BJP for this act and throw them out of power. BJP misled farmers in 2017 and after coming to power, it went back on its promises.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait also said, “Whoever tries to play Jinnah or Hindu-Muslim match in Muzaffarnagar or western Uttar Pradesh will be taught a lesson.” Without naming the BJP, he said, “Paryas are trying to create a divide between Hindus and Muslims, but they will not succeed.” Tikait further said that the BJP and the UP CM “are conspiring to defame a community and caste to win the election. We have started Mission UP and will take it to Uttarakhand also. We will hold press conferences in every district to remind voters of the farmers’ movement. The United Kisan Morcha has alleged that the Chinese mill owners and the BJP government in Meerut are together looting the farmers.
