Be it hijab, bikini or jeans, women have the right to wear clothes – Priyanka Gandhi

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday stood in support of college students in Karnataka who have been banned from wearing hijab in classes. In fact, footage of a young girl being harassed by a mob of frenzied men waving saffron scarves and chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Mandya on Tuesday had surfaced in Mandya. In response, the girl raised slogans of ‘Allah Hu Akbar’, after which the video quickly became viral on social media.
After this, while talking about women’s rights, Priyanka Gandhi tweeted and wrote, ‘Wear a bikini, wear a veil, wear jeans or wear a hijab. It is the right of women to wear what they wear and they have got this right from the Constitution of India. The Constitution of India guarantees her to wear anything, so stop harassing women.’ Along with this, she gave the hashtag I can fight. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi replied to his sister’s tweet with a ‘thumbs-up’ emoji.
Whether it is a bikini, a ghoonghat, a pair of jeans or a hijab, it is a woman’s right to decide what she wants to wear.
This right is GUARANTEED by the Indian constitution. Stop harassing women. #ladkihoonladsaktihoon

Last week Mr Gandhi also tweeted in support of students’ right to wear hijab in classrooms, “By letting students’ hijab come in the way of their education, we are robbing the future of India’s daughters. Maa Saraswati gives knowledge to all. She doesn’t differentiate.”
What is my whole affair?
Muskan told that when she went for college assignment, some boys surrounded her and asked her to take off her burqa and go inside. When she went there again, the boys started shouting slogans of Jai Shri Ram, in response to which they chanted Allahu Akbar. She says, “When I entered college, they were not letting me go just because I was wearing a burqa. They are ruining our education but my teacher and principal supported me, they saved me from the mob.
Muskaan tells that all this is being done by outsiders as they were never discriminated against in school. Even his friends don’t talk about religion. She feels safe with her Hindu friends. Even in class she wears hijab and removes burqa but till date the principal or teachers have not told her anything.
