Country’s first metro halt station ready

Delhi Metro’s first interchange halt station on Green Line (Kirti Nagar-Indralok-Bahadurgarh) at Punjabi Bagh has been completed. Its construction would have been completed earlier, but it was delayed due to corona virus infection. According to the information received, after the preparation of the first halt station of Delhi Metro in Punjabi Bagh, work is currently going on to decorate the station and provide other facilities. It is being told that in the next two months this halt station will be opened for the passengers of Delhi Metro. There will be an interchange station with Green and Magenta lines and there will be no facility of entry or exit of passengers from outside at this station, but only trains can be changed here.

It is an interchange station with Punjabi Bagh of Green Line and Punjabi Bagh West Metro Station of Pink Line. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) says that this is the first station of Delhi Metro, where only metro will have the facility to change. Passengers will not get entry at this station. Actually, Green Line and Pink Line pass through Punjabi Bagh, but at present there is no interchange facility between the stations of both the corridors. This is because their stations are at a short distance. Because of this, passengers have to face trouble.

In view of this, halt station has been constructed between Shivaji Park and Punjabi Bagh station on DMRC Green Line. According to Anuj Dayal, Executive Director, Corporate Communication, DMRC, this is the first time that a special halt platform has been planned to connect the two already operational metro corridors.

It is built near Punjabi Bagh crossroads. For this, changes have also been made in the viaduct of the Green Line Corridor, so that platforms on both sides (up and down) of the Green Line corridor can be made. The platforms are made of steel, whose length is 155 meters. Along with this, a 230 meter long foot overbridge has also been built, which will be connected to the under-construction halt station on the Green Line and the station on the Pink Line. It has two big lifts and escalators, so that passengers can easily change metro trains by getting down at the halt station. Through this, passengers traveling in Green Line Metro from Bahadurgarh and Mundka side will be able to travel in Pink Line Metro by changing Metro at Punjabi Bagh. Similarly, the passengers of Pink Line will also be able to catch the Metro of Green Line.

Haryana passengers will also benefit

The construction of an additional interchange facility (halt platform) on Delhi Metro Green Line i.e. Line 5 (Indralok/Kirtinagar to Brigadier Hoshiar Singh Bahadurgarh) will lead to interconnectivity between Green and Pink Lines i.e. Line 7 (Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar). In such a situation, the passengers of Bahadurgarh (Haryana) will be greatly benefited by this halt platform.

It will be good

This halt platform is built between Punjabi Bagh and Shivaji Park station of Green Line, which will provide interconnectivity between Green and Pink Line from Punjabi Bagh West Metro station of Pink Line. There is no ticketing facility on the interchange platform, but boarding and deboarding will be available. Passengers wishing to interchange trains between Line 5 and Line 7 will be able to use this facility. Passengers going from Halt to Rajouri Garden, Delhi Cantt, Azadpur, NSP and Sarojini Nagar will not have to change many trains by wandering here and there. Passengers will be able to move to and from the stations of Pink Line route by changing the train from Punjabi Bagh itself.
