Button pressed hand pump, slip turned out to be lotus… More than 300 complaints came to UP Police on social media

In the first phase of the assembly elections, people were more active in conveying their objections and complaints to the police through social media instead of the police control room. During the first phase of polling, about 300 complaints related to elections were received with the UP Police. The Samajwadi Party was most active in complaining through social media. The social media cell of the police immediately informed the concerned districts about the complaints and took necessary action.

A complaint came from Ghaziabad through social media that the lotus slip is coming out on pressing the hand pump button in the EVM. The DM and SSP took immediate cognizance of this matter. Similarly, in Noida, people told through social media that many people are not able to cast their votes. Many voter slips did not come. Many of these people are those who have been casting their votes continuously for 20 to 25 years. Congress candidate from Noida Pankhuri Pathak also made a video and shared it on social media.

Eminent lawyer Prashant Bhushan raised the issue of voting of an old lady named Naseem who went to vote in Ghaziabad before the postal ballot. Former CM Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of EVM malfunction, deliberate slow voting through social media and demanded action from the Election Commission on this.

There was a complaint on social media about preventing Dalits from voting in Salwa village of Sardhana seat of Meerut. It was alleged that when the Dalits protested, they were beaten up and the slip was snatched. In Ghaziabad’s Loni Aman Garden, supporters of BJP candidate Nand Kishore Gurjar accused a woman of being beaten up. The crying video of the woman went viral. In this she was alleging that some people were forcibly pressurizing her to vote for BJP.

A video of BJP supporters manhandling RLD candidate Prasanna Choudhary in Shamli went viral on social media. Shamli police said that the candidates had entered a polling booth with four-five vehicles and were alleging bogus voting. After this, he had a confrontation with BJP supporters. Later the police reached the spot and took control of the situation. A video of Agra was posted from the official Twitter handle of SP. It was alleged that the supporters of BJP candidate Pakshalika Singh are not allowing people to cast their votes.
