Shreyas Iyer told why Rohit and Kohli flopped

India batsman Shreyas Iyer on Friday said batting in the first innings of the third ODI against West Indies was not easy as the ball was both seaming and swinging.
After India lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early, Iyer (80) shared a 110-run partnership with Rishabh Pant to take the team’s score to 265 in 50 overs.
It was very difficult to bat in the third ODI – Iyer
Iyer said that batting here was not easy at all. When I went to the ground, the ball was seaming and swinging, so Shikhar Dhawan and I tried to play as close to the body as possible.
Shreyas Iyer said that ODI cricket is a long format, you need to give yourself some time in the beginning and later you can cover it, but there was extra bounce on the pitch, so I thought it was appropriate to play close to the body.
India’s innings faltered in the beginning
At one point, with some brilliant shots, Iyer looked ready to reach three-figure but was dismissed by leg-spinner Hayden Walsh.
He further said that to be honest, I played a very bad shot in that position. I had 15 overs left. I was really disappointed with the shot I played. I had brief conversations with the coaches and teammates, something to learn from this.
Iyer returns after beating Corona
Iyer, (who missed the first two ODIs due to corona infection) felt that 265 was a good score considering the first ten overs of India’s innings.
