Uttar Pradesh : India will run according to the constitution, not according to Shariat – CM Yogi

Amid the ongoing controversy over wearing hijab in educational institutions of the country, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said that a day will come when a girl wearing hijab will become the Prime Minister of the country. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a jibe at Owaisi’s statement by tweeting.

Let us inform that on Saturday, Owaisi had said that, “If a girl decides that I will wear hijab, then Abba-Ammi will also say, who stops you wearing a son. Will see insha Allah. Will wear hijab, go to college, become a doctor, become a collector, become an SDM, become a businessman and remember one day… I may not be alive. Seeing one day a girl child will become prime minister wearing a hijab.” This statement of Owaisi has come at a time when there is a controversy regarding wearing hijab in educational institutions of the country.

Let us tell you that in Udupi, Karnataka, the matter had gained momentum after girls wearing hijab were stopped from entering a college. After that, slogans were raised around a girl wearing a burqa by some chaotic elements in a college campus in Mandya, Karnataka itself. The video of this incident also went viral on social media and it was also condemned across the country. While speaking on this matter, Asaduddin Owaisi had described the hijab as an issue of privacy. He had said that this is an issue of fundamental rights of women and their empowerment.
