Ukraine took a jibe at the US, said – after Russia’s attack
The President of Ukraine said that yesterday we were alone and even today we are fighting alone.
Sanctions on Russia are not enough to stop Russian military attack on Ukraine. This is to say of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, who accused Western countries of being left alone in the Russian Ukraine War. Speaking after the Russian attack in the capital Kyiv, Zelensky said the world was still watching developments in Ukraine from afar. According to CNN, in a Facebook video, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, “This morning, like yesterday, we are saving our country alone. The most powerful country in the world is watching from afar.” Ukraine was pointing towards America.
“Sanctions were imposed on Russia yesterday, but these sanctions “are not enough to uproot the Russian army from our soil,” he said. This can only be done with solidarity and determination.”
The leaders of Britain, America and Canada, the European Union as well as many countries have condemned Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. He has also imposed heavy sanctions on Russia.
US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the US would impose new sanctions on Russia and would join a larger effort to cut Russia off the global economy.
The new sanctions are meant to cut Russia off the US market and also include confiscation of assets of four major Russian banks, including the country’s second largest bank VTB Bank.
Hours later, the President of the European Council, Charles Michael, said that the European Union had imposed more sanctions on Russia to punish it for attacking Ukraine.
“We have made a political decision that we are going to impose more sanctions on Russia which will hurt the Russian regime,” Michael said after the crucial EU summit.
European Commission President Ursula Vo der Lien said the new EU sanctions would impact 70% of Russia’s banking sector, large state corporations, and cut Russia’s access to modern technology.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday granted separate country status to Ukraine’s separatist regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. Putin later launched a military campaign to “save the people of eastern Ukraine” and “to destroy the Ukrainian army”.
