Uttarakhand : Vasantotsav will be held in Raj Bhavan Dehradun on March 8 and 9, Raj Bhavan will be decorated

The Vasantotsav, held every year at Raj Bhavan, Dehradun, will be held on 8th and 9th March 2022. Vasantotsav will be started with the folk festival of Uttarakhand, Phuldei. This decision was taken under the chairmanship of Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Secretary) in a meeting held at Raj Bhavan in Dehradun on Friday. During this, it was told that small artisans selling flower bouquets at various intersections of Dehradun would also be able to participate in the Vasant Utsav. In the spring festival, arrangements for local food of Uttarakhand prepared by women self-help groups will also be there. During this, five brand ambassadors who have done excellent work in the fields of mushroom, honey production, herbs, organic farming etc. will be honored by the governor. Honey production, perfumes, aromatic plants, medicinal herbs will be encouraged in the festival. This year, Holi of flowers will be the main theme of the cultural program in the spring festival.
According to the instructions of Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh (Seni), food courts will be set up this year on the occasion of Vasant Utsav with the courtesy of IHM and GMVN as well as women self-help groups of the state. In this, preference will be given to the local food of the state. The Governor also said that the production of edible flowers should also be encouraged. Apart from this, this time a painting competition will also be organized for all school children in the age group of 5 to 18 years in Vasant Utsav. In which children living in different orphanages, children with disabilities and rag pickers children will also be specially invited. 21 prizes have been announced for the painting competition. The Governor will honor and encourage the children.
Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Seni) further said that ‘the cultivation of floriculture and aromatic plants should be promoted in Uttarakhand through Vasant Utsav. will emerge as a destination. The goal of doubling the income of farmers can be achieved through floriculture. Will be open till 6 pm. On March 9, the two-day program will end with the Governor awarding the winners of various competitions organized under the ‘Flower Exhibition’.
Secretary, Dr. Meenakshisundaram, Director, Horticulture and Food Processing Department, Dr. H.S. Tourism including Baweja, Garden, ITBP, IMA, ONGC, IHM, GMVN, Tourism, Weather, Senior officials of Indian Post, Forest Department, Police, Culture, Finance and Horticulture Department, including senior representatives of various central and state departments/institutions were also present.
