226 people from Uttarakhand are reported to be trapped in Ukraine. According to the police, this number is as per the information received till Saturday evening. People are continuously giving information on dial 112 and social media pages of the police. DGP Ashok Kumar said that the list of all these people has been sent to the Ministry of External Affairs. The Government of India is trying to bring them home.
As of Saturday morning, 188 people were reported to be trapped in Ukraine. Three days ago, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued emergency control room number 112 and appealed to the people of the state to inform their families. After this, on the instructions of DGP Ashok Kumar, the captains of all the districts were instructed to make a draft on their social media pages. In this format, information was sought for name, address, city name of Ukraine (in which their relatives live), occupation etc.
DGP Ashok Kumar said that the people of the state are constantly informing the police by contacting the emergency control room. Till Saturday evening, the families of a total of 226 people have informed the police and administration through various means. These include students and people working in Ukraine. He said that all the information has been sent to the Ministry of External Affairs. The central government is trying to bring them back through various means.
Here, an appeal has also been made to the people of the state that if they have a talk with their family members, then they should inform them about the instructions of the Government of India. They should put the national flag of India on their vehicles, houses etc. So that, they can be saved from harm in war.
16 people have left
According to the police, 16 such people are being told who have left the Ukrainian capital Kiev and other cities. They are either on the border of other countries or are on their way now. However, the police cannot give this information for sure. Information has also been given to the Ministry of External Affairs to verify this. The DGP said that the police of all the districts have been instructed to be vigilant in this matter. So that, the information can be delivered to the central government in time.
3 students of Uttarakhand returned from Ukraine
Ashutosh Pal, Adnan and Khushi Singh, three students of Uttarakhand who returned from Ukraine were welcomed by Ajay Mishra, Additional Local Commissioner, Uttarakhand in New Delhi. During this, the parents of the students and Assistant Protocol Officers of the state Manoj Joshi and Deepak Chamoli were also present.
The Government of Uttarakhand is in constant touch with the Government of India for the safe return of all the students of Uttarakhand residing in Ukraine. Arrangements are being made by the Ministry of External Affairs for the safe return of Indians living in Ukraine. At the same time, Akanksha and her partner shared the video of Srinagar leaving for Dehradun from Delhi Airport. Both said that they are very happy to return to their homeland.
