Sea plane will land in these five water bodies of Uttarakhand
Now preparations are on to land the sea plane in five reservoirs including Tehri in Uttarakhand. For this, these places have been studied. Now for seaplane operation, Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Authority (UCADA) has to tie up with the SPV (Special Instrument Scheme) made by the Central Government under the Sagarmala project. This SPV will provide technical assistance to the state government in the seaplane operation as well as infrastructural development at these places.
There is immense potential for tourism in the lakes and rivers of the state. Tehri Lake has been seen as a major destination for water tourism. The state government is planning to land a sea plane here to attract tourists. In the year 2019, an agreement was signed between the state government and the airport authority to build a water aerodrome here. Last year, the Airport Authority had also marked the place for a water aerodrome in this lake. The water aerodrome will be built at such a place where the operation of motor boats will not be allowed. The Center has taken this scheme in a new form this year. For this, the Center has formed an SPV under the Sagarmala project, which will provide infrastructural and technical support for seaplane operations in various states of the country.
Uttarakhand had sent a proposal to the Center for the possibility of landing sea planes at five places. In this, Haripura reservoir of Udham Singh Nagar, Rishikesh Barrage, Tehri Lake, Nanakmatta Barrage and Kalagarh Lake were included. On this, the Center asked for a study regarding the operation of sea planes at these places. All these places have been found suitable for sea plane. Its report has also been sent to the center by the state government. Now for this an agreement has to be made with the SPV set up by the Centre.
Secretary Civil Aviation Dilip Jawalkar said that its letter has been sent to the Centre. Due to the code of conduct, work on this has been stopped for the time being. After the code of conduct is over, this work will be carried forward as per the guidelines of the new government.

A seaplane is a special type of airplane that does not require a runway to take off. This plane can take off and land from water. Apart from tourism activities, this plane is used during rescue operations.
