Uttar Pradesh : Allahabad High Court said – right decision to cancel recruitment if widespread disturbance is caught

The Allahabad High Court has upheld the decision of canceling the recruitment examination of Village Development Officer, Gram Panchayat Officer and Social Welfare Supervisor. The court said that the result was declared twice and both times huge lapses have come to the fore. If this continues, then the faith of the candidates will be lost in the recruitment process. The court said that it is necessary for the candidates to have faith in the correctness of the recruitment process of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission or the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board.
It is necessary to maintain trust in the recruitment of commission and selection board.
The High Court said that it is not a question of completing the selection process only by separating the tainted and genuine candidates. Cancellation of recruitment may cause problems for some people. This strengthens the public’s confidence in the correctness of the process. Instead of rectifying the flaws, it is the right move to cancel the entire selection. It is also necessary to maintain the credibility of the selection process. The court has refused to interfere with the decision of the single bench commission to dismiss the petition against the quashing of the selection process. This order has been given by a division bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Piyush Agrawal while dismissing the special appeal of Vikas Tiwari and others.
Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission had canceled the recruitment on 24 March 2021. The recruitment exam was conducted through Tata Consultancy Service Company. Those who submitted the blank OMR sheet were declared successful. Under this, the result was withheld due to tampering of sheets of 136 out of 1952 and 393 out of 1533 candidates. Out of 11 lakh applicants, nine lakh took the exam. When the result was declared, the scam was exposed. On this, it was decided to cancel the entire process and conduct it afresh, which is under investigation. To say that the wrong people should be isolated is not that easy. Selecting the right one by separating the wrong people out of nine lakh candidates will not be the answer to the questions raised on the recruitment process. To maintain confidence in the recruiter, the examination should not remain in doubt.
Those caught in the preliminary investigation have been banned for two years. The result of the investigation is yet to come. The court perused the record and upheld the decision.
