Uttarakhand / Kotdwar : Officer-staff went to the counting of votes, silence in the tehsil

There was silence in the tehsil on Wednesday when the duty of the officers and employees of the tehsil was imposed in the counting of votes for the assembly elections to be held in Pauri on Thursday. People who came from far flung for tehsil related work had to return disappointed.

As soon as the Tehsil opened at 10 am on Wednesday, people from Kotdwar-Bhabar and inaccessible mountainous areas of Tehsil area reached for Tehsil related work, but in Tehsil the rooms of all the officers including SDM, Tehsildar, RK were found closed. It was learned that everyone’s duty is engaged in counting of Pauri votes on Thursday, due to which people returned to their homes. District Panchayat member Bharat Negi, Raghuveer Singh, Keshananand Sharma, Rajeshwari Devi, Rashmi Negi, who arrived for work in the tehsil, said that due to the absence of officials in the tehsil, people’s work is not being done. People from far flung areas reached the tehsil by paying their rent, but due to lack of presence of officials, people had to go back. On the other hand, Tehsildar Vikas Awasthi told that due to his duty being engaged in counting of votes, he will be available in the office on Saturday.
