The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand will be chosen from among the MLAs, Dhan Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj’s names are in the forefront
BJP has got a thumping victory in the Uttarakhand elections. Out of the total 70 assembly seats in the state, BJP has won 48 seats, while 18 seats have gone to the account of Congress. Four other parties have got four seats. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has lost the election from Khatima assembly seat. He is defeated by Bhuvan Kapri of Congress by 6951 votes. Overall, BJP is going to form the government with a majority.
Who will become CM?
After the defeat of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, now the discussion on who will be the CM of Uttarakhand is going on. However, BJP sources say that the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand will be chosen from among the MLAs. Let us tell you that Dhan Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj are leading in the race for Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
Dhan Singh Rawat or Satpal Maharaj can be CM
Chaubattakhal seat has been one of the hot seats of Uttarakhand. Here BJP candidate and cabinet minister Satpal Singh Rawat (Satpal Maharaj) has won. He defeated Kesar Singh of Congress by 11,430 votes. Satpal Maharaj got 24,927 votes while Kesar Singh got 13,497 votes. Satpal Singh Rawat was earlier in Congress, but later he joined BJP. Satpal Singh Rawat had also won from Chaubattakhal seat in 2017 and became a cabinet minister in the BJP government of Uttarakhand.
At the same time, Dhan Singh Rawat has won from Srinagar assembly seat under Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state. He defeated Ganesh Godiyal of Congress by 587 votes.
Pushkar Singh Dhami Lost
Let us tell you that Bhuvan Kapri of Congress has defeated Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Khatima assembly seat in Uttarakhand. In the last election too, Bhuvan lost to Dhami by a margin of only 2700 votes. This time he won by 6951 votes. However, BJP MLA from neighboring Champawat district, Kailash Gahatodi, has said that he will give up his seat for Pushkar Singh Dhami, leading to speculations that Dhami may once again become the CM.
