Uttarakhand / Haldwani : Demolition of Kathgodam bridge started, it is not known when the new bridge will be built

NH has started demolishing the bridge built in Kathgodam’s Kalsia drain citing danger. The extent is that NH has not yet canceled the contract of the old contractor. After the cancellation of the contract, NH will retain it. This may take three months. In such a situation, tourists may have to face traffic jams during the tourist season.
Due to the delay of NH, the contractor who built the Kalsia bridge has refused to do the work of the bridge at the old rate. At the same time, the Jal Sansthan had also refused to shift the drinking water line at the old rate. After this, the officials of NH reviewed it. After review, the officials of NH decided to tender it again.
Now the NH officials are canceling the contract of the contractor. After this, NH will again invite tender for this bridge. The NH got around Rs 2.75 crore to build the bridge. The old tender went for 2.28 crores. Now the question is arising that in such a low budget will any contractor come to take this tender. If any contractor does not come to take the contract at this rate, then NH will have to again ask for it from the budget center. How much time does the Center take to give the budget? Only then will it be decided when the bridge will be built. At this rate, it will take three months for the bridge to be built.
The process of canceling the contract of the contractor is underway. Thereafter tenders will be invited again. It may take a month for the tender process to be completed. After inviting tender, one month time will be given to the contractor to fill the tender. Only then can the work start. – MB Thapa, AE, NH
