As soon as the Yogi government returned, the police reopened the closed files of the mafia of Jhansi zone. Maximum 72 mafias are identified in Jhansi, while 38 in Lalitpur and 34 in Jalaun are registered in police records. Now all these mafia are again on the target of the police. The police has started scouting their property afresh. On receipt of the details, action will be taken to confiscate it.
During the first term of the Yogi government, separate special cells were formed to take action against the mafia. They were directly monitored by the Home Department. Now the police department swung into action even before the start of the second term of the Yogi government. Jhansi Range DIG Jogendra Kumar has directed the police captains of Jhansi, Lalitpur and Jalaun to initiate immediate action against the identified mafia.
In his instructions, the DIG has asked to compulsorily open the history sheets of all these identified mafia. Action will also be taken on the mafia released from the gangster. Along with banks, the details of movable and immovable assets have also been asked to be scrutinized. After getting the details of the property, this property will be confiscated.
Nine crores have been seized so far
So far, action has been taken against fourteen mafia in Jhansi range. An amount of about nine crores has been confiscated from them. According to police data, Rs 3.42 crore was seized against seven mafia in Jhansi. While taking action against six mafia in Jalaun, Rs 4.90 crore and Rs 10.50 lakh have been seized against one mafia in Lalitpur.
Strict instructions have been given to all the SSPs to take action against the mafia. Along with taking legal action against them, action has also been asked to take confiscation of property.
