Sonia Gandhi’s big decision after the election defeat, sought resignation from the state presidents of the five states

In the midst of huge defeat in five states, preparations are on for a major reshuffle in the Congress. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has asked the PCC presidents of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur to tender their resignations for the PCC’s reorganization. Randeep Surjewala has given this information by releasing a tweet. Let us tell you that after this order, Punjab State President Navjot Singh Sidhu, UP State President Ajay Kumar Lallu and Uttarakhand Ganesh Godiyal will have to resign from their posts. While in Goa, Girish Chodankar was the PCC President, who has resigned from his post after the defeat of the Congress in Goa. Whereas in Manipur N Loken Singh will also have to submit his resignation.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi herself had offered to resign in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) after the election defeat, but the leaders of the CWC expressed confidence in her leadership and urged her to remain in the post till the organizational elections are over. On the other hand, after this order, Congress state president of Uttarakhand Ganesh Godiyal has resigned from his post, taking moral responsibility for the defeat.

The leaders involved in the CWC had also asked Sonia Gandhi to make necessary changes and take corrective steps to strengthen the Congress. The latest order is being considered as a step in the direction of this reform. In a statement issued after the CWC meeting, it was said that the assembly election results of five states are a matter of serious concern for the Indian National Congress.

It was also decided in the CWC meeting chaired by Sonia Gandhi for about four and a half hours that a ‘Chintan Shivir’ would be organized immediately after the budget session of Parliament in which the future strategy would be decided. This was proposed by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot. There will be another CWC meeting before the ‘Chintan Shivir’.
