Gujarat: Six workers killed in blast at chemical factory in Bharuch

In Gujarat, a fire broke out after an explosion at a chemical factory in Bharuch district, killing six workers. Officials said that the incident took place at 3 pm on Sunday at a unit located in Dahej Industrial Area of Bharuch district, about 235 km from Ahmedabad.
Bharuch Superintendent of Police Leena Patil said that the six people killed in the accident were working near the plant which suddenly exploded during solvent distillation process. “The factory caught fire due to the explosion in the plant. All six people working near the plant died. The bodies were later recovered and sent for post-mortem. The fire has been brought under control.
No other person was injured in the accident, the official said
On February 23 last year, two workers were killed and 26 others were injured when a massive fire broke out at the Jhagadia plant in Gujarat’s Bharuch district. Earlier in February, three workers were killed in a chemical plant in Gujarat’s Mehsana district after inhaling poisonous gas.
