Hate, bigotry, intolerance and lies are swallowing up our country: Sonia Gandhi

Congress President Sonia Gandhi says that hatred, bigotry and intolerance are shaking the foundation of the country, if it is not stopped, it will cause such damage to the society, which will be difficult to compensate. She also asked that what is it that prevents Prime Minister Narendra Modi from standing up against hate speech?
In an article written in an English daily newspaper, he called upon the people not to pursue it further. She urged the people to stop this raging tsunami of hatred that will destroy everything that previous generations have worked hard to create. She said in the article, ‘Today hatred, bigotry, intolerance and lies are swallowing our country. If we do not stop it now, it will cause such damage to our society, which will be difficult to compensate. We cannot allow this to continue. We cannot just stand and watch peace and pluralism being sacrificed in the name of fake nationalism.
Sonia Gandhi said in this article, ‘Let’s control this raging fire. Stop this tsunami before this tsunami of hatred destroys all that our previous generations have worked hard to prepare. She referred to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s work ‘Gitanjali’. She said, “More than a century ago, the poet of Indian nationalism gave his immortal Gitanjali to the world, whose 35th verse is perhaps the most famous and most cited. Gurudev Tagore’s prayer, which begins with the original lines, ‘Where the mind is fearless’ seems more relevant today and has a greater resonance.
Sonia Gandhi asked in this article ‘A Virus Rages’, ‘Should India be in a state of permanent polarization?’
She said the ruling government clearly wants the citizens of the country to believe that such an environment is in their best interest. She said, “Whether it is dress, food, faith, festival or language, efforts are being made to pit Indians against Indians and forces of enmity are promoting them directly and indirectly. There is a constant attempt to interpret history (both ancient and contemporary) to promote prejudice, enmity and vengeance. Hie article comes amid the hijab controversy, violence during Ram Navami and clashes in JNU over non-vegetarian food being served in hostel mess on Ram Navami.
Sonia Gandhi said that it is ironic that instead of using resources to create a brighter, better future for the country and harnessing young talent in creative pursuits, time and assets are used to reshape the present in the context of an imaginary past. being done. She said that the Prime Minister talks a lot about India’s diversity, but the bitter truth is that the diversity in this ruling system, which has defined and enriched our society for centuries, is trying to divide us by changing it.
“The rising noise of hate, the hidden excitement of aggression and the crimes committed against minorities are far from the cohesive, coordinated traditions of our society,” he said. The deteriorating environment of social liberalism and the spread of bigotry, hatred and division shakes the foundation of economic development. In this article, he claimed that activists are threatened and silenced. Social media is used exclusively for propaganda which consists only of lies and hatred.
Sonia Gandhi said, ‘Fear, deceit and intimidation; The so-called ‘maximum governance, minimum government’ have become the pillars of the strategy. Even more deadly is the part of this divisive plan to keep India in a state of permanent frenzy, he said. All disagreements and opinions opposed to the ideology of those in power are ruthlessly suppressed. Political opponents are targeted. And the force of the entire government machinery is thrown against them.
The Congress President asked what is it that prevents the Prime Minister from clearly and publicly taking a stand against ‘hate speech’, wherever this ‘hate speech’ comes from? “It is no surprise that some courageous people from the corporate world are speaking out against what is being done in Karnataka. As expected, attacks have started on social media against these courageous voices.
Sonia Gandhi said, ‘The Modi government has started the practice of celebrating 26 November as Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. It is like following the constitution while systematically disempowering every institution. This is sheer hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, 13 opposition leaders have questioned the “silence” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern over the recent incidents of communal violence.
In a joint statement, these leaders have said that we are shocked at the silence of the Prime Minister, who has failed to speak anything against such people, who are doing the work of spreading bigotry and provoking the society with their words and actions. This silence is factual proof that such private armed mobs enjoy official patronage.
It is to be known that during the processions taken out by the Hindutva organization on the occasion of Ram Navami on April 10, there were reports of communal violence in states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Apart from this, violence erupted in Jahangirpuri area of the capital Delhi during one such procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on 16th April. So far 14 people have been arrested in this regard.
