Buy painting from Priyanka Gandhi for Rs 2 crore, Congress leaders had threatened and greedy Rana Kapoor of Yes Bank like this

Yes Bank co-founder Rana Kapoor has made a big disclosure in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Rana Kapoor has told the ED that he was forced to buy a painting of MF Hussain from Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Rana Kapoor also told that the money received by selling the painting was used by the Gandhi family for the treatment of Congress President Sonia Gandhi in New York. This has come to the fore in the charge sheet filed by the ED in a special court in Mumbai.
Former Union Minister Milind Deora played the role of a middleman in the entire process of the painting that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi sold to Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor. He himself has also disclosed this fact.
Rana Kapoor also told the ED that he was told by former petroleum minister Murli Deora that his ties with the Gandhi family could sour if he refused to buy MF Hussain’s paintings. In addition to relations, a threat of ‘honour’ was also given. ‘Won’t get the Padma Bhushan award’ – Rana Kapoor was also told on refusal.
Yes Bank co-founder Rana Kapoor paid a check of Rs 2 crore for the painting. Kapoor told that Milind Deora later told him that the money from the painting was used by the Gandhi family for the treatment of Sonia Gandhi in New York.
Rana Kapoor also told the ED that Ahmed Patel, a close aide of Sonia Gandhi, told him that he had done a good job by helping the Gandhi family at the right time for Sonia’s treatment. So my name will be considered for the ‘Padma Bhushan’ award.
Let us tell you that in the year 2020, ‘OpIndia’ was told by reliable sources that talks were also held between Milind Deora and Rana Kapoor through Tejat regarding the sale of this painting. Milind used to talk to Rana from his Blackberry phone. Here he addresses Rana Kapoor as ‘Uncle’. According to OpIndia sources, Milind Deora wrote in a message sent to Rana Kapoor on May 29, 2010:
“Uncle Rana, I received your letter on May 28, 2010 and I have forwarded it to Priyanka Gandhi. Although, I will not be able to meet with him or his family right now, but after a few days I will make complete arrangements for it. Priyanka and Sonia want next week as payment check for the painting. My father has also been informed about this and he also tried unsuccessfully to contact you. Unfortunately things are getting delayed. You reply to this message and tell how long you are giving the check. I have to tell my father about this immediately. If you are seeing the message, then reply soon.
The Enforcement Directorate, in its second supplementary charge sheet, has also said that it is also probing a Rs 5050 crore illegal transaction and money laundering case involving ex-DHFL with Yes Bank. The co-founders of Yes Bank, his family, Dewan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) promoter Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan’s promoter are also co-accused in this case.
Significantly, the ED had told a Mumbai court two years ago that Yes Bank had bought DHFL debentures worth more than Rs 3700 crore. DBHL had given a loan of 600 crores to Dolit Urban Ventures Pvt Ltd. Interestingly, the daughters of Rana Kapoor were working as directors in this company.
Yes Bank had given the said loan without adequate collateral and the rules were ignored. There was a discrepancy of Rs 4,300 crore in the agreement of both the companies. After this, the court sent Rana Kapoor to the custody of the ED. Apart from this, 44 expensive paintings were found by the ED with the Kapoor family. Many of these were bought from politicians.
