Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, while addressing the National Cooperative Conference and National Award distribution function organized in the capital Raipur today, said that there is a need to strengthen the cooperative movement by organizing it more. By accepting the goodness of cooperative sector policies of various states of the country and removing the shortcomings of cooperative sector, we can move forward. Today there is also a need to enable the cooperative sector to meet the needs of farmers and villagers. For this we need to make co-operative banks as strong as nationalized banks. Along with this, arrangements should also be made to give loans from these banks for horticulture and cash crop. He said that the biggest objective of the cooperative movement of the country should be to provide support price to the farmers for their produce. Such efforts should be made so that farmers can get remunerative price for their produce. With the availability of agricultural credit, fertilizers and seeds to the farmers, more schemes should be linked to the cooperative sector.

The Chief Minister said that there is a need to make Annadata farmers energy providers by promoting the production of ethanol from the surplus production of food grains in the country. For this it is necessary that the central government should allow the production of ethanol from paddy purchased on support price. He said that today there is a need to enable cooperative banks to meet the needs of farmers and villagers. He said that many measures have been taken to strengthen the cooperative movement in Chhattisgarh. Various schemes and activities like purchase of paddy on support price, Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Godhan Nyay Yojana, purchase of minor forest produce on support price, sale of vermi compost prepared by women’s group in Gauthans have been linked with cooperative banks.

The Chief Minister said that by promoting the production of ethanol from the surplus production of food grains in the country, the farmers would be provided with food grains.

Chief Minister Baghel while addressing the conference said that Chhattisgarh has implemented many schemes in the interest of farmers including Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, due to which farmers are getting good price for their produce and farming has become a profitable business in Chhattisgarh. Is. Baghel said that the way to provide remunerative price to the farmers for their produce would come out through farmer friendly schemes implemented in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister said that the number of farmers registered in the cooperative sector in Chhattisgarh has increased from 15 lakh to 22 lakh. Similarly, the area under cultivation has increased from 22 lakh hectare to 30 lakh hectare. In these 3 years, the registration of 7 lakh farmers has increased. The Chief Minister said that when the Chhattisgarh government talked about buying paddy at Rs 2500 per quintal, the Center objected to it and told us not to deposit rice with FCI, but we did not back down from our decision and decided to pay the support price. Along with this, input subsidy is being given to the farmers through Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. In which all Kharif crops along with horticulture crops, plantation have also been included. Along with providing loans to farmers at zero percent interest rate, we have given farming status to lac and fisheries. Through various schemes, our government has done direct transactions of Rs.91 thousand crores in the accounts of livestock farmers, farmers, laborers and forest dwellers.

The Chief Minister said that due to mechanization in the field of agriculture and closure of cattle market, animal husbandry has become uneconomical for the farmers and livestock farmers today. Animals have become a burden for them. This has been found through the Godhan Nyay scheme implemented by the Chhattisgarh government for the purchase of cow dung at Rs 2 a kg. Women are preparing products like vermi compost, diyas, pots from cow dung. Now the work of making natural paint and electricity from cow dung has also been started. Along with selling cow dung, people have got a source of income from the products made from cow dung. So far 68 lakh quintals of cow dung has been purchased in Chhattisgarh under Godhan Nyay Yojana and Rs 136 crore has been paid to the dung vendors. Representatives from different states of the country are coming to our place to understand the specifics of Godhan Nyay Yojana. Jharkhand has implemented the system of Godhan Nyay Yojana in its budget. Whereas states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh are also following the footsteps of Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister said that there is a need to make the Annadata farmers, who make the country self-sufficient in food grains production, energy providers. The country’s need for three years is stored in FCI. Today more food grains are being produced than we need. The center should also allow ethanol production from cereals. For this it is also necessary that the produce purchased by the state government from the farmers on support price should be used in the ethanol plant, only then the farmers will get its benefit. Employment opportunities will be created by setting up of ethanol plant and foreign exchange will be saved on petroleum products. The country will be able to become self-reliant in the matter of petroleum in the coming times.

Welcoming the representatives of cooperative sector from all over the country in the conference, Chief Minister Baghel said that both agriculture and cooperative subjects belong to the state. This is the reason that rules have been made and operated according to the geographical, social and economic systems of the states. He said that the history of cooperative movement in Chhattisgarh is very old. In Chhattisgarh, Thakur Pyare Lal Singh started the Weavers’ Co-Operation Movement in 1945 and the cooperative was started by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the country. The association of farmers is with the cooperative bank, we need to do a lot in the field of cooperatives, only then this movement of cooperative can be successful.
