Uttar Pradesh : Five policemen injured in a scuffle with VHP members who went to rescue a rape accused
Five policemen were injured in a scuffle between the police and members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Noida city of Uttar Pradesh adjoining the national capital Delhi. The incident happened last Thursday.
According to police, the incident took place outside Noida Sector 39 police station when VHP members were demanding the release of one of their associates.
Police said that on Thursday (April 28), a group of people from the organization came to the police station to get a man released, who was accused of rape. There was a dispute over this matter and it turned into a fight, in which the policemen were injured.
A minor has been arrested for allegedly raping a girl, an official said. The Noida unit of VHP had reached the police station on Thursday afternoon to talk to the officials regarding the matter.
According to the information, after this an argument started between the VHP members and the police to get the accused released, which soon turned into a fight. During this, the accused even tore the uniforms of the policemen. Apart from this, slogans were also raised inside the police station.
A case of rioting and threatening and assaulting a public servant has been registered against the accused. The arrested members were later released on bail.
Condemning the incident, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted, “Doing hooliganism, creating ruckus in the police station to save the rapists… this is now a well-known character of BJP and its supporters. Very soon, being happy with their action, their president will be honoring them all by calling them at the headquarters and garlanding them.

On Thursday, 50 to 60 members of VHP and Bajrang Dal reached Noida Sector 39 police station at four o’clock in the day. These members want to talk about a 13-year-old Hindu boy detained by the police who is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl from a minority community.
An official said that the name of one of the people involved in the FIR is Ganga. Along with this, involvement of 50 to 60 unidentified people has been shown. The FIR has been registered on the complaint of constable Anil Kumar.
In the complaint, Anil has said, ‘Around four o’clock they started protesting outside the police station. I and four of my colleagues tried to convince him, but he kept on raising slogans. Under the leadership of Ganga, they started abusing us in the beginning and then attacked. They even tore our uniforms.
Additional DCP Ranvijay Singh said that the accused have been taken into custody. “The involvement of other people in the scuffle is being probed. A detailed investigation is on in the matter.
According to the report, VHP’s media in-charge Rahul Dubey said that some people of his organization have also been injured in the fight. “Some of the injured are senior members of the organisation. The police arrested the convener of our Noida unit and took many other activists into custody. All of them were later released on bail.
