Heat wave in 12 states due to these 3 reasons, earth will heat for next 5 days

The ever-increasing heat in the country has made life difficult for the people. About 75% of the country is battling the havoc of the scorching heat. About 80% of the population is in its grip. According to the Meteorological Department, the month of March this year has been the hottest in the last 122 years. Recently, in 33 cities of the country, the temperature crossed 44 degrees. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the temperature will increase continuously in the coming days in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha. Since March till now, 4 heat waves have been seen in the country.
What is heat wave?
Generally people think of heat wave as heat wave, but it is not so. When the temperature in an area increases more than normal and remains so for several days, then it is called heat wave. During this time the humidity in the area is also high. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) i.e. India Meteorological Department announces heat wave in 3 circumstances.
- First: A heat wave is declared when the maximum temperature is recorded 40 °C or more in the plains, 37 °C in the coastal areas and 30 °C in the hilly areas.
- Second: Each region has a common maximum temperature. A heat wave alert is declared even when the temperature in that area rises between 4.5-6.4 degree Celsius above normal.
- Third: When the maximum temperature recorded in an area is between 45-47 °C, it is still considered part of the heat wave cycle.
What is the heat wave situation in the country this year?
From March till now, there has been a heat wave in some areas of the country for about 26 days. In the last one and a half months these regions have had 4 heat wave cycles, of which the last heat wave cycle is still in progress.
- First Heat Wave: The first of these cycles lasted from March 11 to March 19. During this, there was severe heat in Kutch-Saurashtra, North Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, West Madhya Pradesh, West UP and Odisha.
- Second Heat Wave: The second cycle of heat wave started from 27th March and lasted till 12th April. It affected all the areas that were affected by the first heat wave. Apart from this, its effect was also seen in Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh.
- Third heat wave: After a few days of relief, the third heat wave lasted from April 17 to April 20. During this, some areas of Delhi, Rajasthan, East UP, Bihar and Maharashtra were affected.
- Fourth Heat Wave: The fourth heat wave that started in Kutch-Saurashtra and Rajasthan on April 24 continues till now. It is expected to spread to Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, North Gujarat and Maharashtra in the coming days.
Why did it get hot this year?
It is getting very hot in India this year. There are 3 reasons for this.
- Reason 1: This time the summer started very early. This is because the anti-cyclone normally formed in late March became 1 month early this time. Due to this, hot winds have started coming from the Thar Desert and Pakistan. Due to this, the temperature in Jammu, Rajasthan and adjoining areas is above normal.
- Second reason: This year, a cycle of heat wave is going on longer than in the past few years, due to which the temperature is increasing. In the last one and a half months only, 4 cycles of heat wave have been observed in India.
- Third reason: Usually after the end of winter, it rains in many areas, due to which the temperature is balanced, but this time it did not happen. Despite the scorching heat in most parts of the country, it did not rain at all. Because of this, the process of heat wave and hot air continues continuously.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this is the third time after 1901, when it was so hot in March. While the maximum temperature in March every year is 31.24 degrees Celsius, this year it was recorded at 32.65 degrees Celsius. IMD said that in March, most parts of the country did not even receive rain or thundershowers. Let us know which states are facing the most wrath of heat.
- Delhi: The city of Delhi is situated on the banks of river Yamuna, due to which it is called Humid Sub-Tropical Region. Humidity is high in such areas and the heat is also high. Apart from this, the hot air coming from Rajasthan also increases the temperature here. Nowadays, the process of hot air and heat starts in Delhi from morning itself. According to the Meteorological Department, the mercury can go up to 44 degrees in the coming days.
- Maharashtra: The effect of heat wave is being seen in many parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai. Hot winds are coming continuously from Kutch and Saurashtra in Gujarat. Apart from this, one reason for the rising temperature is also the increasing solar radiation. Due to the heat, the demand for electricity is increasing in large parts of Maharashtra. The state has admitted to a power shortage of 20,000 lakh metric tonnes. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave warning in many cities of the state. The temperature recorded in different cities of the state at the end of April.
- Rajasthan: The biggest reason for increasing heat in Rajasthan is the hot and dry air coming from the Thar Desert. Here the temperature has crossed 45 degrees in 7 districts. At the same time, the maximum temperature in 8 districts is above 44 degrees. Along with the scorching heat, there is a severe shortage of electricity here too. In rural areas, electricity is being cut for about 4 hours every day, due to which people are facing a lot of problems.
- Uttar Pradesh: The weather is taking a fast turn in Uttar Pradesh. The heat has reached its peak in the last days of April. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe heat alert for the entire state including Lucknow. In other districts including Lucknow, there will be severe heat for the next three days. During this, hot winds will also blow at the speed of 60. These figures are in line with the temperature recorded at the end of April.
- Madhya Pradesh: In Madhya Pradesh too, the outbreak of heat is increasing continuously. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe heat alert till May 19. In such a situation, the mercury can go beyond 45 degrees. Heat wave is going on in many areas of the state since April 25. According to the Meteorological Department, the heat wave continues to wreak havoc in cities like Gwalior, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Guna, Chhindwara, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Chhatarpur, Tikgamgarh and Damoh. The temperature recorded at the end of April.
- Odisha: Heat wave is also going on in Odisha amid scorching sun. Here the maximum temperature has crossed 40 degrees. In view of the increasing heat and heat, the state government has closed all the schools till April 30.
- Chhattisgarh: The weather in Chhattisgarh has made people sweat. The mercury has crossed 45 degree Celsius in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature ever recorded in the month of April in Raipur was recorded on 30 April 1942.
How does the Meteorological Department issue alerts?
Usually people get nervous when they hear the name of the word alert. Here we will tell you what the IMD alert means. The India Meteorological Department has set different colors to give warnings, in which there are 4 main colors.
- Green: Green color means that the weather is normal in the country at present.
- Yellow: Yellow color means keep an eye on the weather, stay updated on the current conditions.
- Orange: Be prepared, the weather can change at any time.
- Red: Red color means alarm bell. This means being prepared to deal with emergencies.
After all, for how many days will the condition of heat wave persist?
There will be no relief from heat wave for the next 5 days: To understand this better, we talked to meteorologist VP Singh. Singh said that there is no hope of getting relief from the heatwave till May 5. During this, there is a possibility of heat wave in Northwest and Central India.
- First week of May will be hot for some states: In the first week of May, the temperature may increase further in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand. Due to the continuous hot air coming from Pakistan, Saurashtra and Kutch, there is a possibility of more heat in the first week of May.
- Less chance of rain till May 15: Singh said that except the states of South and Northeast India till May 15, there is no possibility of rain in the rest of the states. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of getting relief from the heat for the next 15 days.
What is the reason for increasing heat wave?
This is not the first time that such a heat wave is going on in the country this year. In the years 2013-14 and 2016-17 also, similar heat was seen and even then there were strong hot winds in the country. According to the information, there have been mainly 3 reasons for the increase of heat wave, which are currently changing the weather patterns all over the world.
- Less wind in the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean: The first reason for increasing heat wave in the country this year is that at this time there is less air than normal in the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean and due to this there is a direct effect of the temperature there in India and its surroundings. countries are affected.
- The second reason is climate change: first we know what is climate change? Climate change or climate change means change in temperature and weather patterns. After the 18th century, people’s activities have been the main cause of climate change. Excessive use of things like coal, gas is responsible for climate change. These release greenhouse gases, which damage the atmosphere. Globally, the effects of climate change have been seen after 2015-16. Due to less rain in the year 2020-21, there is a possibility of severe heat across the country this year.
- The third reason is global warming: So what is global warming? The heat of the sun reaches our earth. These rays pass through the atmosphere and hit the surface of the earth and then reflect back from there. Earth’s atmosphere is made up of many gases, including some greenhouse gases. They form a layer above the earth. This layer blocks a part of the returning rays, due to which the Earth’s atmosphere remains warm.
Global warming can increase the temperature of the season by 40 percent. Due to the ever-increasing temperature, the ice is melting and the sea level is rising.
Why is it getting more hot this time in the areas near the sea?
Scientists believe that the Maiden Julian Oscillation (MJO) is an ocean atmosphere-related phenomenon. This has an effect on the wind blowing from the sea and it slows down. When the slow winds blowing from the sea coasts stop, then the area around the sea gets heated due to the excessive heat of the sun. If this situation persists for a long time, then the possibility of a sharp rise in temperature increases.
Can get sick from excessive heat
The risk of many health related problems increases during the summer season. In summer, due to strong heat, there is a shortage of water in the body. Apart from this, many bacteria reach the body due to sweat and strong sunlight.
Let us know what can be the problem for a person due to heat and what should be done to avoid it.
- Skin related problems: Due to the strong sunlight in the summer season, the risk of getting heat rash and fungal infections increases. Some common symptoms may include itching and burning sensation along with red spots, pimples or ulcers on the skin. To avoid this, apply sunscreen cream. Also, cover hands, feet and face properly before going out in the sun.
- Risk of heat stroke: The risk of heat stroke increases in people who are often outdoors as the temperature rises. Normally, heat is released from the body in the form of sweat, but sometimes the body is not able to take the coolness naturally, due to which this problem occurs. This increases the body temperature and causes dizziness. To avoid this, keep eating and drinking cold things, so that the body temperature is balanced. Also, avoid being in the scorching sun for a long time.
- Dehydration: The biggest problem in summer is the lack of water in the body. Due to continuous sweating and heat stroke, there is a lack of water in the body. In such a situation, the risk of dry mouth and tongue, dizziness, weakness-fatigue and fever increases. Drink water every once in a while to avoid dehydration.
Also, eat such things which keep increasing the amount of water in the body.
