Uttarakhand / Haldwani : Riyaz alias Langra, the kingpin of active thief gang in Mukhani arrested, goods worth 1.50 lakh recovered

The Mukhani police have arrested the kingpin of the thief gang operating in the area. The arrested accused is a resident of UP and has also gone to jail several times in cases of theft. Many cases are also registered against him in different districts of UP. The police has gathered in search of the absconding accomplice of the gang.
Disclosing the matter, SP City Harbans Singh said that during interrogation it was found that the accused, 22-year-old Riyaz alias Langra, is a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri in UP. He told that in January there were several thefts one after the other in Mukhani area. Mukhani Inspector Deepak Singh Bisht formed a team and started searching for the gang. Riyaz was arrested by the police from near Panchayat Ghar Tirahe at around 6:30 pm on Friday. During interrogation, Riyaz has confessed to theft.
Police have recovered three chains, a mangalsutra and a maang tika worth Rs 1.5 lakh from him. The police have registered a report against the accused and sent him to jail on the orders of the court. Police is looking for two gang accused.
The arresting team included SI Bhupal Ram Pauri, Sanjay Kumar, Chandan Singh, constable Jitendra, Virendra Chauhan.
Used to do Reiki with dry drain and closed light
Police said that Riyaz alias Langra used to do recce during the day on the basis of dry drains outside the house and lights turned off at night. When the drain was dry, they used to guess that there was no one in the house. After this, he used to confirm this by turning off the lights at night and then along with his associates used to carry out the theft.
UP Police shot in the encounter
Riyaz and his gang, a resident of UP, have carried out incidents in many districts of Uttar Pradesh apart from Uttarakhand. Police said that to nab Riyaz alias Langra, who was fleeing after the theft in Faizabad, the UP Police shot him in the leg. The bullet hit the left leg, after which he was arrested and sent to jail.
Used to steal by breaking the lock in 10 seconds
During the interrogation of the police, Riyaz told that after Reiki, he used to come with his companions to steal from the car. He was responsible for breaking the lock of the house. Told that in 10 seconds he used to break the lock of any house. After breaking the lock, the accomplices used to carry out the theft.
Did the gang do only three thefts in one area?
Police said that there are three cases registered against Riyaz alias Langra in Sitapur and three in Faizabad. Along with this, he had also carried out three thefts in Mukhani of Haldwani. At the same time, it was also revealed during interrogation that he used to run away to UP for three days after the theft and used to come back after disposing of the stolen goods. The police is also trying to find out if this is the pattern of the gang.
The kingpin was living as a wood trader
When the police interrogated the accused Riyaz, it came to know that the accused used to do the work of buying and selling wood in Uttarakhand. On the pretext of this, roaming around the city, he used to do recce of the houses and after that he used to commit theft again with his companions.
Three accomplices arrested earlier, one still absconding
Police said that Riyaz alias Langra used to run a gang of four people. After the thefts in January, with the help of CCTV footage, the police arrested three members of the gang, a resident of Sitapur, Mohd. Ahsan and Asim were arrested on March 27 and sent to jail. Riyaz and his partner Amir were absconding. After the arrest of gang leader Riyaz, the police has started looking for Aamir.
Goods are not sold in UP, that’s why they steal in Uttarakhand: Riyaz
Riyaz told the police that the gang had come into the limelight after the theft and shooting in Faizabad, UP. Because of this, the sale of stolen goods had stopped in UP. Because of this, goods were being sold by stealing in Uttarakhand.
