US President Joe Biden said on the occasion of Eid that Muslims around the world are becoming victims of violence. He said the Muslim community is making America stronger every day, while it itself faces real challenges and threats to society. He said this in a program organized on the occasion of Eid at the White House. Joe Biden said he has appointed a Muslim for the first time to the post of consulate in charge of international religious freedom. He said, ‘This is very important because today all over the world we are seeing that many Muslims are becoming victims of violence. No one should be harassed for their religious beliefs.

The program was also attended by First Lady Jill Biden, Imam of Masjid Mohammad Dr. Talib M. Sharif and Pakistani singer and musician Arooj Aftab. Joe Biden said, ‘Today we remember all those who are unable to celebrate this holy day, including those from the Uighurs, Rohingya community, who are suffering from famine, violence, conflict and disease .’ “Respect the signs of hope and progress in the world, including the ceasefire that has allowed people in Yemen to celebrate Ramadan and Eid in peace for the first time in six years,” he said.

“But at the same time we have to acknowledge that there is much work to be done abroad and here at home,” Biden said. Muslims make our country stronger every day, even though they still face real challenges and threats to our society, including targeted violence and ‘Islamophobia’ (fear of Islam).’

In a tweet after the ceremony, Biden said, “Jill and I are deeply honored to celebrate Eid al-Fitr tonight at the White House and we extend our warm wishes to all who celebrate the festival around the world.” Happy Eid.’ Meanwhile, US Vice President Kamala Harris also extended Eid greetings to the people. He tweeted, ‘Douglas and I extend our warm wishes to all who celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr….Eid Mubarak.’
