Uttarakhand : More than 50 industrial units closed in Haridwar Sidcul, so far four have responded on show cause notice

More than 50 industrial units of Uttarakhand State Industrial Development Corporation Limited (SIDCUL) have been closed for the last two years. Production is stalled here, most of the companies that have stopped production citing economic crisis during the Korana period are related to packaging.

Surprisingly, the units which have been closed since the Corona period have been issued show cause notices by the SIDCUL administration. So far only three-four of them have responded. However, he has got 20 days to reply to the notice.

There are about three thousand small and big industrial units in Haridwar district. Their number in SIDCUL alone is 731. After the formation of the state, two big industrial areas were developed at Haridwar and Pantnagar (Rudrapur) to give impetus to industrial development. Apart from this, two small industrial areas have been set up at Kashipur and Sitarganj near Rudrapur in Udhamsinghnagar district itself. A small growth center of SIDCUL has also been developed at Sigaddi near Kotdwar.

Haridwar Sidcul, spread over 2038 acres, was established in 2002. Industrial package was given by the central government for 10 years. Due to this a large number of industries were established in Sidkul Haridwar. The production capacity of industries was affected during the Corona period. Many companies caught in the economic crisis have stopped production completely. Taking this seriously, on the orders of the government, orders were given to the SIDCUL administration to issue show cause notices to the industrial units that were closed since the Corona period.

On this, in the last week of April, show cause notices were issued to 52 small and big industrial units of Haridwar. The reason for the closure of the units has been asked in the notice. Surprisingly, there is a week to go, but so far only three-four companies have responded. Here, the SIDCUL Manufacturers Association has objected to the notice. According to the association officials, the SIDCUL administration should take a decision keeping in mind the situation in order not to spoil the atmosphere.

SIDCUL has shortage of plots

SIDCUL has become the first choice of investors in North India. The situation is that SIDCUL does not have a plot and the demand is continuously coming. This is the reason why the industrial plants given on lease, which are closed for the last two years, should be vacated and given to other investors. However, the SIDCUL administration is waiting for the reply of the notice.

Green belt vacation notice

All the industrial units of SIDCUL have occupied the Green Belt. Here less greenery and more vehicles are visible. In order to maintain environmental balance, land was allotted to the Green Belt in the master plan of SIDCUL. Greenery was to be developed by planting trees, plants, grass etc. in an empty space of eight to ten feet outside the industrial unit. But, about 20 percent units of SIDCUL have built temporary parking etc.

What do the officers of the association say?

If the plot is vacant then action is justified. The SIDCUL administration should be aware of the situation before giving notice to cancel the plot. It should also be tried that the environment is not spoiled in any way.
