Uttarakhand / Haldwani : Fire in five shops, loss of lakhs

A fire broke out in five shops including furniture, tires near Chorgalia Road railway gate late on Saturday night. The fire brigade brought the fire under control after a lot of efforts, but by then property worth lakhs had been destroyed. The tempo standing under the transformer also got burnt in the fire.

Ali Hassan, a resident of Kidwainagar, has a furniture shop. The fire broke out in the shop around 2 pm on Saturday. The planer machine, sawing machine, hammer etc. in the shop came in the grip of fire. The fire then engulfed Yadish’s furniture shop, Jabir’s shop, Kudrat’s tire shop and Jameel Ahmed’s wood shop. Seeing the flames, the neighbors raised an alarm, after which a crowd of people gathered.

On information, the fire brigade team reached the spot. Leading fireman Rajendra Nath under the leadership of fire officer Govind Ram started dousing the fire but the fire was becoming uncontrollable. Meanwhile, the fire was brought under control in two hours with water from three vehicles.
Line number 16 resident Yakub’s tempo was standing under the transformer. The tempo also got burnt in the fire. The cause of the incident is said to be short circuit. City Magistrate Richa Singh reached Chorgalia Road on Sunday afternoon and took stock of the fire. He had also sent Patwari to take stock of the damage. Councilor Laik said that the Patwari has inquired about the damage.
shopkeepers claim

Shopkeeper Ali Hasan said that about eight lakh goods have been burnt in the fire. Line number 16 resident shopkeeper Yadish claims that furniture worth 2.5 lakhs and shopkeeper Jabir Ali has also reported a loss of 2.5 lakhs due to the fire. Tire shopkeeper Kudrat Ali, resident of line number 18, has said that the damage has been four and a half lakhs and Jameel Ahmed has said two lakhs. The tempo driver has also reported thousands of damages. During this, regional councilor Laik Ahmed was present.

People said, the fire engine arrived late
The people of Gafurbasti alleged that the fire tenders reached the spot an hour after giving information, but the fire officer says that 15 minutes after getting the information, the vehicles reached the spot and started dousing the fire. Said that if the fire was brought under control soon, due to which a major accident could have been avoided.
