Actually, this decision has been taken in the midst of bloody conflict in many cities of Sri Lanka. The army there has been ordered to shoot the rioters on sight. This decision has been taken at a time when violence has erupted in Sri Lanka after the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa recently. Violence has escalated to such an extent that rioters set fire to the ancestral house of former Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appealed to the protesters on Twitter, whatever party they belong to, to remain calm and stop the violence. Do not take retaliatory action against citizens. He said all efforts would be made to restore political stability and address the economic crisis through a constitutional mandate and consensus.
Earlier, emergency has been imposed in the country. Police has imposed curfew across the country but the violence is not taking its name to stop. Meanwhile, Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Namal while talking to the media said that there are many rumors that his father Mahinda Rajapaksa is not going to leave the country. We will not do that. On Monday, Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned from the post of Prime Minister at the behest of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Violence has erupted in the country after Rajapaksa’s resignation.
