Punjab : RPG attack in Mohali, SFJ takes responsibility, 20 suspects arrested so far

There is big news about the attack on the Intelligence Headquarters of Police in Mohali, Punjab. The banned organization Sikh for Justice has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack. On Monday, a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) attack was carried out on the police office, causing damage to the building. After this, the police had intensified the investigation on Tuesday and the news of the attack being linked to Pakistan had come to the fore.

According to a Times of India report, the organization has claimed responsibility for the attack through an unverified voice message. According to the report, the police say that the voice message has been verified taking responsibility for the attack being told by SFJ’s Gurpatwant Singh. Mohali SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said, “We are very close to solving the matter.” During the investigation 18-20 suspects have been arrested.

On Tuesday, a day after the RPG attack, the police had issued a high alert in Mohali. At present, investigators are checking ‘6 thousand to 7 thousand mobile data dumps’ from three mobile towers located in the headquarters area to gather more clues. Based on the CCTV footage, the police suspect that a Swift car may have been used for the RPG attack.

The NIA, NSG and Army inspected the building to speed up the investigation. On Tuesday, DGP VK Bhavra held a meeting with state intelligence officers, SSP Soni and other officials. “We have the leads and we will resolve the matter quickly,” he told reporters. Investigation is on and information will be shared at the right time.

Mohali SP (HQ) Ravindra Pal Singh said that it has become clear that the terrorists involved in the attack had a conspiracy to attack the intelligence apparatus of Punjab Police. Mohali Police has registered a case against unknown people under several sections including Section 307 of IPC, Section 16 of UAPA.
