Uttarakhand : Action will be taken against those ineligible for taking free ration, FIR-recovery will be done from June 1

The names of the beneficiaries who have taken cheap and free ration from the Uttarakhand government will be made public. Outside every ration shop in the state, a list of the names of card holders who have taken ration under the Antyodaya and National Food Security Scheme associated with that shop will be put up. The name, address and mobile number of the person will be entered in this list. Food Minister Rekha Arya has given instructions to the officials in this regard. Along with this, from June 1, the process of FIR and recovery will also start against the ineligible.

The Food Minister said that due to the names written outside the ration shops, transparency will come in the distribution of ration. Along with this, the local people themselves will be able to check that any competent person among them is not robbing the rights of the poor. It is to be known that in Uttarakhand, 35 kg ration is given every month on the Antyodaya ration card at a subsidized price.

Five kg food grains are given per unit on the ration card of the National Food Security Scheme. Since the Corona period, more than 15 lakh ration cards of these two categories are getting five kilos of food grains free of cost. According to the standard, a person with a monthly income of more than Rs 15 thousand cannot take advantage of these schemes.

But complaints have been received that a large number of ineligible have been benefited from both the schemes. More than 1600 people have surrendered their own cards so far. It is to be known that in UP too, the Food Department has launched a campaign against ineligible ration card holders.

FIR and recovery will start on ineligible from June 1: The Food Department has also started preparations to run a campaign for verification of ration cards across the state from June 1. Departmental Secretary Sachin Kurve has issued orders for this to all DM-DSOs. He said that people with monthly income above Rs 15,000 have been given time to surrender their Antyodaya and NFSA cards automatically by May 31.

After this, the ration card will be verified by running an intensive campaign from June 1. FIR against the ineligible and recovery of ration taken from them till now will also be done. Kurve has asked the DM and DSO to complete this campaign with full readiness. The information of ineligible people can also be given on the helpline number-1967. The identity of the informer will be kept confidential.

Antyodaya gets three gas cylinders free in a year
The state government has decided to provide three gas cylinders free of cost to Antyodaya families in a year. An annual expenditure of Rs 55 crore is to be incurred on this. The government wants that the first Antyodaya families should also be properly sorted before starting the scheme. So that only the actual eligible person can get the benefit of this scheme.

Case and recovery action will be taken against the ineligible. The purpose of the government behind this is to give the benefit of government schemes to the real poor. As many ineligible people will be removed, instead of genuine eligible people will get a chance to join Antyodaya and NFSA scheme.
