AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan sends defamation notice to Delhi Police

Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA from Okhla assembly constituency of Delhi Amanatullah Khan has sent a defamation notice to the Delhi Police. He said that today a notice of defamation has been sent to Delhi Police, Delhi Police should either apologize or pay the damages. Amanatullah Khan shared the copy of the defamation notice on Twitter. He has written that “The police should tell me which land I have occupied or where I have illegally constructed? Where did I instigate the riots? Which gang am I a part of?

Amanatullah Khan has said that Delhi Police is constantly targeting me. This time the Delhi Police has attacked my family with defamation as well as my right to prestige and right to live with honour. Delhi Police is weaving fabricated stories without any proof.

Significantly, Amanatullah Khan has been declared as Bad Character (BC) by Delhi Police. On March 30, the DCP had approved the proposal to make Amanatullah Khan as BC. There are 18 criminal cases registered against Amanatullah. The police claim that Amanatullah is a habitual protester. Cases of land grabbing and assault are registered against them. On March 28, a proposal was issued by SHO Jamia Nagar to make Amanatullah Khan the BC of Bundle A. Which was approved by the DCP on 30 March.

Amanatullah Khan was arrested on May 12 for opposing SDMC’s action to remove encroachments in Madanpur Khadar in South Delhi. The court sent him to Tihar Jail in judicial custody. Delhi Police had arrested him for obstructing government work and inciting people. On May 13, all markets of Okhla including Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Kunj in South Delhi were closed in protest against Khan’s arrest. Later the same day, the court granted him bail.
