Delhi / Vasant Vihar: Woman commits suicide along with two daughters, burns fireplace, turns room into poison gas chamber

A woman along with her two daughters committed suicide in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area on Saturday night. According to the Delhi Police, a 50-year-old woman lit a fireplace in the flat to commit suicide and converted it into a gas chamber. Police also found a lot of suicide notes from the room.
All the doors and windows of the flat were packed with polythene and the cylinder knob was open. A burning fireplace was also found nearby. It is believed that due to the smoke of coal, poisonous carbon monoxide gas was created in the room and all three suffocated. The deceased woman has been identified as Manju. She was ill for a long time and could not even get out of bed.
Written in the suicide note – lethal gas is filled in the room
In one of the suicide notes found on the spot, instructions were written for the people who entered the flat. It was written in it – The room is filled with very deadly carbon monoxide gas, it is flammable. Please ventilate the room by opening the window and opening the fan. Do not light matches, candles or anything. Be careful when removing the curtain, because the room is full of dangerous gas, don’t breathe.
Maid informed the neighbors
According to a woman who worked in the flat earlier, Anju was upset due to money crunch. Bai, who works in Anju’s house, went to the flat several times since morning, but no one opened the door or picked up the phone. Bai informed the neighbors about this.
When neighbors tried to peek inside the flat through the window, they felt gas. The police got information about this at around 9 pm on Saturday night.

Neighbors have told the police that the woman’s husband had died of corona last year. Since then the family was troubled. Police said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Whether they died of suffocation or due to ingestion of any poisonous substance, it will be revealed in the post-mortem report.
