Uttrakhand: Threatened to blow up Roorkee railway station, terrorist organization sent letter, searched trains amidst fear

The GRP along with the RPF and ATS conducted an intensive checking operation at the Laksar railway station after receiving a threat from the terrorist organization to bomb the railway station on May 21. Police remained on alert throughout the day after Roorkee railway station superintendent SK Verma received letters threatening to blow up railway stations and religious places on May 21. The police kept a close watch on the suspicious people coming. The trains were thoroughly searched. GRP station president Pradeep Kumar said that the Roorkee railway station superintendent had received a threatening letter. In this, on May 21, Roorkee, Laksar, Haridwar, Rishikesh railway stations, besides the Chief Minister of the state and religious places were threatened with bombs. The entire administrative staff is alert about the threat. In this regard, an intensive checking campaign was conducted at Laksar railway station with the help of ATS and RPF.

ATS in-charge Pooja Rani said that with the team at Laksar railway station, an intensive checking campaign was carried out at the railway station and trains. RPF station president Soni Sharma said that the soldiers were on alert from the point of view of security at the railway station. Soldiers were also deployed on the railway bridge. Soldiers in plain clothes were deployed to keep an eye on the suspects. The checking continued till late evening.

When the handwriting of the letter threatening to blow up the Roorkee railway station was examined, it was found that this letter is also a prank. DGP Ashok Kumar told that for 20 years the same person is sending such letters. Haridwar Police has been directed to search for him in the matter.

Such letters have been received from time to time. This also alerts the police. In the latest case also, the police have beefed up the security arrangements. The sender of the letter has described himself as the commander of the terrorist organization. Meanwhile, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar said that from the handwriting of this letter, initially it also seems to be mischief.

Letters of this handwriting have been found for 20 years. This person is believed to be mentally unwell. However, he has instructed to be cautious in this matter. The DGP said that it looks like mischief, but it does not mean that there should be any negligence in security. District police have been instructed to conduct proper checking at all places.
