Amidst the panic of Monkeypox Virus, Modi government alerted the states, Uddhav government swung into action, issued advisory

According to WHO, monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease. It spreads from animals to humans and then can spread from human to human. At present, not a single case of monkeypox has been reported in India, but in view of the cases in other countries, the Union Health Department has directed all the states to be alert. Following this instruction, the State Health Department has also issued an advisory regarding monkeypox.   1. All suspected patients will be closely monitored who have traveled to the affected countries in the last 21 days.
  2. Instructions have been given to give the information of these suspected patients from the local district officer to the health department immediately.
  3. Passengers from endemic and non-endemic countries are being screened at the airport.
  4. All infection control methods should be followed while treating such patients.
  5. If the report comes positive then contact tracing will be started.
  6. Blood sputum and samples of suspected patients will be sent to NIV Pune for testing.
  7. For suspected cases, a separate ward has been set up at Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai where 28 beds have been kept.
  8. Samples of suspected cases will be sent to NIV Pune.
  9. People who came in contact with the patient in the last 21 days will have to be immediately identified and isolated.
  10. Isolation cannot be ended until all wounds of suspected patients have healed and a new layer of skin is formed and must be quarantined until then.
