Vinay Kumar Saxena will be the new LG of Delhi

Vinay Kumar Saxena has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi following the resignation of Anil Baijal. Saxena has become the 22nd Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. He will be the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi from the date he assumes office. Earlier Vinay Kumar Saxena was the Chairman of Khadi Village Industries Commission, Government of India. He took over as the chairman on 27 October 2015.
On the appointment of the new LG, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that on behalf of the people of Delhi, I warmly welcome the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor, Sir Vinay Kumar Saxena. For the betterment of Delhi, he will get full cooperation from the cabinet of Delhi Government. Along with Anil Baijal, who was the Lieutenant Governor, did many things in Delhi and tried to fix many problems. He is a very good person. I wish him all the best for the future and wish him good health and long life.
After the resignation of Anil Baijal, there was talk that Praful Khoda Patel, Rakesh Mehta, Rajiv Mehrishi, Sunil Arora and Rakesh Asthana could be made LG. Anil Baijal’s office in the post of Lieutenant Governor was associated with disputes with the Delhi government. In particular, there was a constant conflict between him and the Delhi government regarding rights. The dispute between them reached the Supreme Court.
Union Home Secretary in Vajpayee government
Before the post of Lieutenant Governor, Anil Baijal, an IAS officer of 1969 batch, served in many big posts. He was made the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. He had worked as the Union Home Secretary in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Baijal took action against Kiran Bedi
While being the Union Home Secretary, he had acted on Kiran Bedi and removed her from the post of Head of Jails. Apart from this, Anil Baijal held important positions in many ministries.
Baijal also held these posts
He has also served as the Vice-Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority. He also held the post of Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, MD of Indian Airlines, CEO of Prasar Bharati, Development Commissioner of Goa, Commissioner (Sales Tax and Excise) Delhi. He retired in 2006 as Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development. After this Jawaharlal Nehru was associated with the National Urban Renewal Mission.
Delhi’s LG appointed after Najeeb Jung’s resignation
In December 2016, Anil Baijal became the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi after Najeeb Jung. Like Najeeb Jung, he too had differences with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. There have been talks of confrontation between the Delhi government and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal many times over many matters. He had formed a committee of three members a year ago to investigate the procurement process of 1000 buses of the Delhi government. He had a lot of tussle with the Delhi government on this issue too.
