Uttarakhand : The man-eater’s stain on the tigress was removed, no one was attacked for the last 56 days, 120 personnel deployed on the border of twenty villages

The man-eater stain on the tigress that killed six people in three months has been removed. He has not attacked any human for the last 56 days. The order to tranquilize him and catch him will continue. In the Fatehpur range of Ramnagar Forest Division, between 21 December 2021 and 31 March 2022, a tigress had killed six people in the dense forests of Paniyali, Damuva Dhunga and Bajuria Haldu.
The tigress had never interfered in human settlements, but under pressure from the people, the department had declared the tigress as a man-eater. He has not attacked any human in the last 55-56 days. After this, as per the provisions given in the Wildlife Protection Act, the man-eater tag has been removed from the tigress.
Uttarakhand Forest Chief (Half) Vinod Kumar Singhal said that efforts are on to pacify and capture the tigress so that her health condition can be checked. He said that 50 camera traps have been installed. 120 personnel have been deployed in the entry limits of about 20 villages to prevent villagers from entering the surrounding forests. Here, Chief Wildlife Warden Dr. Mudhakar Parag Dhakate told that the orders to tranquilize the tigress will remain in place.
