After SP President Akhilesh Yadav, now UP BJP is also busy in finalizing its list of Rajya Sabha candidates (Rajya Election 2022). There is a discussion that BJP can give a bigger surprise than this list (BJP Rajya Sabha Candidate List). There is speculation that the party may send a senior minister from the Yogi Adityanath cabinet to the Rajya Sabha. The party is continuously engaged in the selection of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections to be held on June 10. Information has also been received that the name of a senior minister of the Yogi government is in the list of 20 possible candidates, who have been sent by the state unit of BJP to the central leadership.
BJP can surprise with its list
If we look at the current situation of BJP and Samajwadi Party in the UP Assembly, then the BJP-led NDA can easily win 7 seats in the Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, SP of Akhilesh Yadav can win three seats. There is also a discussion in the political corridor that BJP can field a businessman from Lucknow for the high voltage contest for the 11th seat. The businessman whom the BJP may project as its eighth candidate is also the son of a late politician.
Yogi cabinet discusses sending a senior minister to Rajya Sabha
According to sources, BJP may give another chance to some of its retiring MPs for the Rajya Sabha. Among them the names of Shiv Pratap Shukla, Zafar Islam, Jai Prakash Nishad, Surendra Nagar and Sanjay Seth are in discussion. Sources said that it is certain that the party will also include a big Brahmin leader in its list of candidates. However, it is not certain whether Shiv Pratap Shukla will be replicated or BJP will field former state unit chief Laxmikant Bajpai.
SP has opened its cards, now it is the turn of BJP
If BJP insiders are to be believed, the possibility of a Jat leader from western UP also being included in this list cannot be ruled out. He played an important role in the return of the party to power this time. This becomes all the more relevant because the way the SP chief has fielded RLD chief Jayant Choudhary, the BJP will definitely try to play such a gamble to compete with him.
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will go to Rajya Sabha from UP!
According to experts, the Samajwadi Party chose Kapil Sibal as the Rajya Sabha candidate, who was instrumental in securing bail for senior party leader Azam Khan. There is also speculation about sending Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to Rajya Sabha from UP. Naqvi is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand and will retire on July 7. Another name which is in discussion is that of Naresh Agarwal. He had joined BJP in 2018 after not getting a SP ticket. Naresh Agarwal’s son Nitin Agarwal is a minister in the Yogi cabinet.
