Nainital Senior Superintendent of Police Pankaj Bhatt said that on the complaint of daughter-in-law of 59-year-old Rajendra Bahuguna, a case was recently registered against him under the POCSO Act. The incident took place on Wednesday in Haldwani’s Bhagat Singh Colony. Bahuguna was also appointed as Minister of State for one year during the Chief Ministership of late leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari. Bahuguna’s son filed a police complaint against his wife, accusing her of abetting his father’s suicide.

Case was registered under POCSO Act
Rajendra Bahuguna, a former minister in the Uttarakhand government, shot himself by climbing on top of a water tank. Administrative officials said that Bahuguna’s daughter-in-law had accused him of molesting her granddaughter, due to which they were upset. In connection with the matter, a case was registered against Bahuguna under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. It is being told that before committing suicide, Bahuguna called the police and then climbed on the water tank and shot himself with a pistol.

Case registered against daughter-in-law for abetment to suicide
After the suicide, the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the daughter-in-law. The administrative officer said that the police team reached the spot. A long conversation took place between the police and Bahuguna. After this suddenly Bahuguna shot himself. He was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. It is being said from the administration that the reason for the suicide is not yet clear, but he was very upset with the case and the allegations.
