Let us tell you that the summit of the Quad Leader was held this week. The leaders of the four countries met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida and Australian PM Anthony Albanese. During this, apart from Ukraine, issues related to Indo-Pacific issues were discussed.
Following a meeting between PM Modi and Kishida on the sidelines of the summit, India and Japan agreed to work together to assist beleaguered Sri Lanka.
On Friday, Sitharaman met Sri Lankan High Commissioner Milinda Moragoda to discuss the possibility of increasing aid to Sri Lanka. A statement issued by the High Commission of Sri Lanka said, “In this context the Minister and the High Commissioner discussed the possibility of enhancing and restructuring the assistance provided by India in the form of loans for essential commodities and fuel as well as for balance of payments support.” Tell me.”
Giving the latest update, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister said that his government is focusing on steps for the agriculture, private and banking sectors. Since January, India has committed more than USD 3 billion for the debt-ridden neighbour, news agency PTI reported.
