Monsoon journey started, rain alert in many states

The people facing the scorching heat are eagerly waiting for the monsoon. The latest news is that pre-monsoon activities have started in many states and according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of rain in different states during this period. The Southwest Monsoon has moved towards Sri Lanka and has moved towards Kerala. Meanwhile, rain alert has been issued in many states. Earlier, the IMD had announced the onset of monsoon over Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 16 May. Monsoon has advanced into some parts of South Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep. According to India Meteorological Department official RK Jenamani, conditions are favorable for the advance of monsoon. Monsoon rains are likely over Kerala in a day or two. According to Skymet Weather, conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South Arabian Sea, entire Maldives, Lakshadweep and some more parts of Comorin region.

According to Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain is very likely over parts of Northeast India, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. While light to moderate rain is possible over West Himalayas and parts of South and Coastal Karnataka.

According to the IMD, light rain is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh and parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, there is a possibility of dust storm and thundershower in parts of Northeast Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana of Uttar Pradesh.
