Three BJP candidates nominated in Maharashtra in Rajya Sabha elections, Pratapgarhi is also in fray
Three BJP candidates, including Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Congress’s Imran Pratapgarhi and NCP’s Praful Patel filed their nominations on Monday for the June 10 Rajya Sabha elections. With this, the stage was set for a close contest for the sixth seat in Maharashtra.
Besides Goyal, Anil Bonde and former Kolhapur MP Dhananjay Mahadik filed nominations as Bharatiya Janata Party candidates for the biennial elections to the Upper House of Parliament.

Former Union minister Patel and Congress candidate Pratapgarhi are also in the fray. Last week, Shiv Sena candidates Sanjay Raut and Sanjay Pawar had filed their nominations.
BJP can win two seats on its own. Congress, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) can win one seat each on their own. Also, the three parties involved in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will have additional votes to win another seat. Shiv Sena is dependent on these votes to win its second seat.
The sixth seat is expected to see a tough fight with the BJP fielding three candidates and four MVA candidates Former Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that the BJP has fielded the third candidate after much deliberation. Congress’s Maharashtra unit chief Nana Patole said the figures are in favor of the MVA and all its candidates will win.
