Two terrorists killed in Pulwama
Two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Pulwama district. The police had given this information on Monday. A police spokesman said that a terrorist involved in the killing of police constable Riyaz Ahmed earlier this month was also killed in the encounter. A police spokesman said that on Sunday night in Gundipur, Pulwama, security forces had cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the terrorists.
He said that during the search operation when the security forces moved towards the suspected spot, the terrorists hiding in the house of a person named Nazir Ahmed Mir opened indiscriminate fire, following which retaliatory action was taken and the encounter started. To avoid any damage due to darkness, the operation was halted during the night and resumed in the early hours, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said that as per police records, both the terrorists killed were part of groups involved in several cases including attacks on police and atrocities on civilians. “The slain terrorist Abid Shah was involved in the killing of unarmed police constable Riyaz Ahmed at his house in Gadoora area of Pulwama on May 13, 2022,” he said.
Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar congratulated the forces for conducting the anti-militancy operation in a professional manner without any casualties. He also lauded the joint team for tracking and eliminating the terrorists involved in the recent killing of a policeman in Pulwama.
