Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who arrived in Lucknow to participate in a two-day ‘Nav Sankalp Workshop’ to discuss the strategy to revive the Congress in UP, has returned to Delhi after shortening her visit. A party leader gave this information on Thursday. The reason for Priyanka’s early return to Delhi has not been given. State Congress Media Vice President Pankaj Srivastava told news agency PTI, “Yes, she has left for Delhi.” She had reached the capital Lucknow on Wednesday to participate in the workshop. She was to participate in the program for the second day but local party leaders told that she had returned only late on Wednesday night. Asked whether the workshop would continue on Thursday, Srivastava said, “Yes, our National Secretary is here and it is going on.” Apart from Priyankaji’s program, nothing has been canceled.
AICC general secretary Priyanka led the party in the state assembly elections held in February-March with the slogan “I can fight a girl”. Before the general elections of the year 2024, a big challenge is in front of him to infuse new energy in the party unit of the politically very important Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka had actively participated in the campaigning in the UP assembly elections but the party was able to win only two out of 403 seats in the state.
After the resignation of Kapil Sibal from the party, the Congress has no representation from this state in the Rajya Sabha. Sibal has filed nomination as an independent candidate for Rajya Sabha with the support of SP. While the term of Deepak Singh, the lone member of Congress in the State Legislative Council, is going to end in July, leaving the party with no representation in the Legislative Council. Will go. In her address, Priyanka, who arrived here on Wednesday afternoon, urged the party workers not to get disheartened about the results of the assembly elections and asked them to work with double energy till the victory is achieved. This two-day workshop is being held at the State Congress Headquarters, in which the digital membership campaign of the Congress, upcoming municipal elections, party organization etc. were discussed on the first day.
