Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami wins Champawat by-election, PM Narendra Modi congratulates

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has won the election from Champawat constituency. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, registering a record victory in the Champawat by-election, defeated his nearest rival Nirmala Gahatodi of Congress by more than 55 thousand votes. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Dhami for this stupendous victory and expressed confidence that he will now work harder for the progress of the state.

After Dhami’s victory, Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to the dynamic CM of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami for his record victory from Champawat.” I am sure he will work harder for the progress of Uttarakhand. I thank the people of Champawat for putting their faith in the BJP and appreciate our workers for their hard work.”

According to information received from Champawat District Election Office, the Chief Minister got more than 55 Hazare votes in 13 rounds of counting and forfeited all the candidates, including the Congress, who contested against him.

In the by-election, Gahatodi got 3147 votes, Samajwadi Party candidate Manoj Kumar got 409 votes and independent candidate Himanshu Garkoti got 399 votes. A total of 372 voters pressed the button of NOTA (None of the above). Voting for the by-election was held on May 31. However, the counting of ballots that came by post is still going on, due to which there may be some change in these winning figures.

Congress ahead in Kerala Trikkakara seat

Congress candidate Uma Thomas is leading in Kerala’s Trikkakara seat. Against him, the CPI has fielded eminent cardiologist Dr. Joe Joseph. Whereas BJP has given ticket to AN Radhakrishnan.

There is a contest between 11 candidates on Odisha Brajrajnagar seat

11 candidates are standing for the by-election to the Brajrajnagar assembly constituency of Odisha. Biju Janata Dal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress candidates are believed to be a triangular contest in the by-elections. Biju has fielded Alka Mohanty from Brajrajnagar seat. BJP has given ticket to former MLA Radha Rani Panda and Congress has given ticket to senior leader and former Speaker Kishore Patel.
