The dispute over food in the hostel of Hydro Engineering College is not taking its name to stop. On Wednesday, the students of the boys’ hostel heard the allegations of serving food prepared from the food item of expiry date. He refused to eat the food being prepared in the canteen.
On Wednesday too, there was a ruckus in the Hydro Engineering College over food. The students, complaining about the expiry of food items including rice, flour, oil, pulses, masala salt, kept in the store, also called the deputy registrar of the institute Vikrant Kumar and chief warden Dr. Sanjay Rawat, representatives of the canteen operator on the spot.
Students Kshitij Sharma, Harshvardhan, Vishwa Pratap, Nikhil, Anish, Sachin Chauhan, Vinay Ramola, Satyam Rana, Keshav etc. told that 80 students live in the hostel. Eight students have fallen ill after consuming substandard food, which their families have taken to their homes. Many other students are suffering from stomach ache due to poor quality of food. Even after complaining several times to the college management system and the canteen operator, the problem is not being resolved.
On the complaint of the students, local MLA Kishore Upadhyay reached the spot and heard the problems. It is a matter of serious concern that the students are given food made of expired food items in the hostel. He talked to Technical Education Minister Subodh Uniyal, Secretary Ravinath Raman and DM Eva Ashish Srivastava by phone and asked them to take immediate action. Said that on Thursday (today) a meeting would be held in Bhagirathipuram with the students and administration in the college management. Deputy registrar Vikrant said that alternatively, arrangements for food for the students have been made in another canteen.
